In todays society with increased media and availability of escapism through the media and entertainment facilities there are possibilities of a Utopia hinted and dangled in front of the audience. Utopia is an place where the people are perfect, Carey (2000), argues that this is created by the birthing of a perfect population that are then maintained in a perfect state with the provision of education and then aging and death are managed. However, these are not possible to manage, and in all of the Utopian works, form Plato to Thomas More these impossibilities are reduced to simplified aspects that are easily overcome (Carey, 2000). This is a reflection of their inventive mind where it is the message and not the mechanics that are being communicated. The same may be seen in modern media, where there are insoluble problems the entertainment industry chooses to ignore them by suspending disbelief. Thus is also a method of overcoming insoluble difficulties without ever solving the difficulties.
