we wish to consider how these forces conjoin to influence a company we can look to the ideas of Mintzberg and the way that he determined these influences would impact on a company. The best way of demonstrating this model is to apply it to a specific company, In this case study we will use a construction company form Hong Kong, yet in undertaking this we will se how it may also be applied to other companies in other geographical or commercial sectors. He we will use the company of Chevalier (Construction) Company Limited (CCCL). To begin with we need to consider the structures that Mintzberg argues there are four main structures, these are shown in the grid below, there are two main differential on each axis, in reality these may be seen as a sliding scale, but in considering the influences we can consider how the company may react in terms of organisational structure. In this we see that the environmental variety = complexity x pace of change. Therefore in industry where there is a high degree of technological change, with a larger degree of complexity will result in a wider variety of organisational structure.
