Essay / Research Paper Abstract
This is a 6 page paper comparing and contrasting the religions of Abraham and Moses. The religions of Abraham and Moses have several overlapping components while at the same time they are vastly different in their complexity and basis. Abraham’s religion and his covenant with God consisted of three basic promises: land, offspring and blessings. Abraham moved his family to Canaan and there began a prosperous life on the fertile land. Thus fulfilling the contract, he was blessed with many descendents. The next four hundred years saw a great deal of difficulty for the children of Israel however. Because they prospered in Egypt, they were made slaves. Moses freed them and made his way to the land of Abraham and on the journey received his covenant with God. The religion of Moses based on the covenant was much more complex than the three basic concepts of the religion of Abraham. The religion of Moses included many conditions known as the Ten Commandments and the Israelites did not readily accept these new conditions. Because they were returning to the land of Abraham however, Moses and the covenant was to clarify for the Israelites what was to be needed to be considered children of God.

source for this comparison. During the time of Abraham which is approximated to be from 2000 to 2500 BCE, the tow neighboring civilizations were Egypt based on the Nile
