Robinson (1995) and another is called The Leader of the Future: New Visions, Strategies and Practices for the Next Era and is edited by Hesselbein, Goldsmith and Beckhard (1997).
Each of the books in their own right has much to contribute. The latter book named is an anthology. A look at the book Grassroots and Nonprofit Leadership will
be taken first. At points in the book, Lakey, Napier & Robinson (1995) use metaphor for example and equate leadership as akin to navigating a raft on a river.
Authors explain that the river sometimes goes too fast and that the crew has to paddle in unison, which leads to conflict (Lakey, Napier & Robinson, 1995). The authors note
that at times, the individuals paddle together, but at other times there are differences of opinion (Lakey, Napier & Robinson, 1995). What seems obvious is that there are a variety
of outcomes possible for a single event or challenge. Authors embrace a number of paradigms to provide a semblance of advice that is aligned with management theory and
practice. Obviously, the focus here is on the nonprofit organization, but it is also true that the information to come from this volume is pertinent to anyone who is in
charge of any organization. The book is comprised of fifteen distinct chapters that are replete with valuable information and insights. The first chapter introduces the river concept and looks at
