farming is still practiced and while industrialization did change the way that people lived and worked, some of the pre-industrial activities remain. Industry did however change the lives of people
because no longer were the artisans supported when they lived far away from the cities. Factories became the more important element in the economy and so, people moved to the
cities for work. It almost meant that the cities became a center of daily life. People did have to change the way that they lived and worked as result. The
Industrial Revolution impacted the lives of all people in industrialized nations. The image that most people have is that the technology led the world and social systems followed automatically (Daniels
1030). And that is what happened to an extent, although it was not quite so automatic. The changes were substantial. For example, because people were able to work in factories,
they had to order their lives in such a way as to be able to accommodate the work load. They had to live close to the factories which created the
trend of the emergence of cities. The Industrial Revolution started a new way of life. Some attribute the real start of this so-called revolution to Sir Richard Arkwright who lived
in the eighteenth century (Fisk 25). Of course, these are the very early roots of what later turned into the the more modern revolution that many acknowledge. In
pre-industrial society, people lived more simply. They were not tied to the big capitalist machine and in fact, it is likely that the industrial revolution sparked Karl Marx to be
concerned about the state of affairs. Similar to life in post modernity, people can choose to become entrepreneurs or they can work for large companies. The large companies give them
