Bolshevik, Revolution. As with most revolutions they had their successes and their failures. They were also clearly revolutions that left a powerful legacy that lasts today. The following paper compares
and contrasts the two revolutions. A Comparison and Contrast of the French and the Russian Revolutions In relationship to what started these particular revolutions the reasons are somewhat
different. In the case of the French Revolution it was primarily started by middle class, as well as merchants and some upper class who, for the most part, believed in
a new philosophy of equality. At the time it had been perhaps demonstrated by the United States that such freedoms could be won. There were many other factors involved as
well such as hunger and poverty for the poor and a class system that many people were simply tired of. In the case of the Russian Revolution there were
actually two, but the most profound was the second that took place in 1917. The revolution primarily involved people from various countries: "The people of the Baltic territories where today
the countries of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania exist were enslaved by serfdom from about the time of the 12th century to about the 19th century. The Baltic has been
fought and ruled over by many different people, most notably ethnic German nobles, Poland, Sweden, and finally Tsarist Russia" (Litwin, 2002). The peasants and farm workers essentially rose up, especially
when they saw their chance during WWI when Russia was relatively busy elsewhere (Litwin, 2002). With both of the revolutions in hand, however, there were some similarities for the
