My name is Tessa White. Im starting this journal so that someone, someday might know me.
I live in Hot Springs Arkansas and I attend Central High School. I am, however, a misfit. Im not white. Im not black. Im not
Latina. I am Cherokee but the federal government doesnt think so. See, to be a "real" Native American I have to have a serial number. Yep, a
serial number just like you would find in a dogs vaccination tag. If that isnt an injustice I dont know what is! Thats what I would like to
talk about in my journal, the injustices. First, Id like to point out to the reader who might someday read this, the Native
American people are the only race in America that has to have a serial number to prove that they are Native American. Its not that I really need to
prove anything to anybody that concerns me though. It concerns me because its not just the government that denies me but also my own people! You see, I
have red hair and green eyes. My heart though is full blood Native American. I can tell you that.
