appointed to a project team. The project is coming under serous pressure, initial plans for the project appeared to have no major problem, however, the environmental impact assessment has come
back with negative results, indicating that the project would cause damage sand would be unlikely to gain approval for development,. In the mean time the company has already tied up
a great deal of capital in the project, and with the necessity to move quickly in order to reduce costs is in a position where the holding up of the
project is jot a viable option. The difficulty David has been placed in is due to his personal contacts in the government
who would have the power to approve the project by turning a blind eye to the environmental impact assessment. The problem that faces David is whether or not to undertake
this action for his employers, he likes his job and if he does not do this then he is likely to loose his job, this has even been put to
him. He finds a great deal of satisfaction the job, but the actions are both unethical and illegal, and as such may come back to haunt him in the future.
They may also harm the company in the future at which time it is likely to then seek to place the blame elsewhere, This is a very difficult position for
David. Looking at this we can examine this from the perspective of a clash between David and the company cultures which is being dictated by the management, this has
the impact of creating cognitive dissonance where there area clash of moral or ethical beliefs regarding the decision to be made (Soutar and Sweeney, 2003). To consider this
