At present it is believed that this will be one of the most rapidly advancing careers in the country. In the following paper we present an examination of the career
field that is health information technology, presenting general information and information on medical coding. The Profession: Job Description "Every time health care personnel treat a patient, they
record what they observed, and how the patient was treated medically. This record includes information the patient provides concerning their symptoms and medical history, the results of examinations, reports of
x rays and laboratory tests, diagnoses, and treatment plans" (Medical Records and Health Information Technicians ocos103.htm). Health information technicians of all types are the people who make sure these records
are accurate. In that we see that a health information technician is perhaps just as valuable to the medical field as the doctor for they help ensure the health of
