The business literature is filled with various aspects of organizational theory and how they are impacts the operations of an organization. Hatch (1997) that the study of organization theory is important not because people like sitting around discussing dry, dusty theories, but because an understanding of organizational theory provides insights into how and why particular companies behave in certain ways. For example, if we examine the failure of various companies, we can find some kind of organizational theory or reason that contributed to the failure. Hatchs assessment of the typical organization is that of a physical structure, culture, social structure and technology, their relationship to one another, and the relationship of all these factors, collectively, to the environment. She points out there is a definite interplay between the four factors, with the environment oath having an impact on the factors, and the factors having an impact on the environment. Therefore, an organization is not just a separate entity with a bunch of people, but rather as an entity consisting of a culture, social structure, physical structure and technology, that all have an impact on the environment and vice versa. Organization theory, therefore, draws upon various studies such as economics, sociology and systems theory (Organization Theory).
