in a large, wood-paneled lecture room, the professor is at the lectern with his hands in his pockets; students are sitting at desks. The professor is saying that mathematicians won
the war, they broke the Japanese code, they built the A-bomb. All students are attentive except Nash, who is sitting in the back looking down. The professor subsequently asks who
in the room will be the next Einstein. At that, Nash looks up from the corner of his eye. The audience knows Nash is thinking. At that, the professor says
to the class "Welcome to Princeton, Gentlemen." The year was 1948. In the movie, within a span of ten years, Nash develops his theory on game theory, forms a lasting
friendship with his room-mate, Charles, is invited and accepts a prestigious research and teaching position at MIT, was recruited by the U.S. Government and works on a top-secret intelligence cryptology
project, saw his theories gain favor not by mathematicians but by economists, married Alicia, who was one of his physics students and is just about to become a father when
his mind takes off into schizophrenic delusions. It is only towards the end of the movie that the audience realizes most of these events were delusions; they were not real.
