as well. The under 16 club program pursues a number of training concerns which must be taken into consideration if a youth team is to peak in their performance
at the appropriate times of the year. These concerns include psychological, technical, tactical, as well as physiological considerations. Obviously, soccer training programs
very considerably according to the group. The focus of youth team leaders should obviously be on the recreational value of the sport. Because most teams obviously participate at
some level of competition significant attention should be paid to grooming the team so that they perform at their optimum level. The first step in this process is to
evaluate the current level of conditioning. This evaluation allows the team leader to identify particularly weak areas such as speed, strength, or endurance. Well designed fitness tests are
a critical element of this process. Once a teams weak areas are identified, training is implemented to correct those weaknesses. Sport Fitness Advisor (2002) reports:
