terrorist threats hanging heavy. At the same time there were many other conditions that were taking place that affected global tourism as
well. For example there was tension in the Middle East prior to 9/11 and the American economy was already a bit weakened prior to the attacks. Many events combined that
saw a slight decline in tourism prior to 9/11. But, with 9/11 tourism truly seemed to come to a standstill for some time. The Caribbean is just one region in
the world that was deeply affected by 9/11. The following paper examines how the Caribbeans tourism industry suffered following the attacks. 9/11 and Caribbean Tourism
In one article, published in the Manchester Trade Document (2006), the author, Hemlock, notes that "Tourism to the Caribbean, already reeling from the Sept. 11 terrorist
attacks, faces a deeper-than-expected slump after Mondays crash of a passenger jet bound from New York to the Dominican Republic." This event took place in November of the same year
and simple seemed to put more devastating pressure on the Caribbean. This is because the Caribbean is a destination of many American travelers and as they became nervous about flying,
even more so with the November crash, the Caribbean suffered as "the island nations in the worlds most tourism-dependent region are bracing for a bleak winter season and little growth
