The major applications seen coming onto the market are based in entertainment systems, with gamers being dominant market, but 3D television sets are likely to takeover as they are released
in 2010 (Leavitt Communications, 2010). However, the current media attention is overlooking the wide range of potential uses that 3D technology can, and is, being out to in the commercial
environments. The developments of recent technology are facilitating further applications; tools including Softimages XSI, NewTeks LightWave and Alias/Wavefronts Maya have been able to increase the ability to create realistic
3D effects and characters, initially aimed at the entertainment markets, such as for movies, this has been extended (Leavitt Communications, 2010). Theoretically 3D technology has the potential to
be used in a commercial environment anywhere where there is the need for the design of three dimensional objects, this includes a wide range of professional including, but not limited
to architects, landscapers and engineers (Leavitt Communications, 2010, King, 2008). In any environment where a designer needs to perceived a three dimensional image, especially those who are already using
computer technology, such as with the CAD programs, the use of a 3D technology many provide great benefits aiding the design process and the assessment of the designs. An example
of this is Rhino a program by Robert McNeel & Associates that helps designers that is helping firms undertake a range projects including the design of car interiors and furniture
(Leavitt Communications, 2010). A larger project was seen with design and building of the Lou Ruvo Brian Institute, a healthcare facility located in Las Vegas, built to specialise in research
on condition such as Parkinson and Alzheimers (King, 2008), Not only was 3D used by the design team; Gehry, it was also used for project management in the construction stage,
