the first observations that can be made is that the verses meaning is quite consistent between various versions of the Holy Bible. Second Corinthians 2:17 (New International Version) states: "Unlike
so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, like men sent from God." The King
James Version of the Bible, as well as the New American Standard Bible, employs slightly more convoluted language, but essentially expresses the same differentiation between the Paul and the Christians
of Corinth and the men who question Pauls authority and present an alternative message to that of his apostolic mission. For we are not as many, which corrupt the
word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ (2 Cor. 2:17, King James Version). For we
are not like many, peddling the word of God, but as from sincerity, but as from God, we speak in Christ in the sight of God (2 Cor. 2:17, New
