University). When one carefully reviews Peters letter against other Scripture and historical analyses, it is clear that Peter, the Apostle did, in fact, write this letter (Atlantic Baptist University). The
author says that he was an eyewitness to Jesus ministry (1 Peter 1:8). One also finds great similarities between what is recorded in 1 Peter and in speeches made and
recorded in the Book of Acts (Atlantic Baptist University, 2006). For example, Acts 4:11 reports the same things as 1 Peter 2:4, both of which speak of the stone that
some people reject. One of Peters phrases is that God is no respecter of persons (Atlantic Baptist University, 2006). Peter says in Acts 10:42 and in 1 Peter 4:5
that everyone will have to account to God who will judge both "the living and the dead" (1 Peter 4:5; Acts 10:42). One of the issues is that Peter
calls himself an eyewitness to all of the events and this shows that someone else wrote the letter (Atlantic Baptist University). Peter was not present at the crucifixion but neither
were the other Apostles who state they saw Christs suffering (Atlantic Baptist University). Luke says that they witnessed this even from afar and that Peter actually followed Jesus during the
Passion at a distance (Atlantic Baptist University). This author suggests that Peter refers to himself as an eyewitness because "he was present in Jerusalem and aware of what was happening
to Jesus and from a distance was a witness of some of these events" (Atlantic Baptist University). Others contest the authorship of 1 Peter because Peter refers to himself as
