in these verses, this is what St. Paul did in 1 Corinthians 1:18-25. Paul begins: "For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to
us who are being saved it is the power of God" (1 Corinthians 1:18). Preaching the cross is the power of God and that is what saves us all. Those
who reject Christ will not be saved. Those who reject Christ believe the Gospels of God are nothing but foolishness but they will perish. The true power and
wisdom of God is revealed through the "foolishness of Jesus cross. Just as the people in the First Century, we, too, worry about security, pleasure and power but when we
recognize the truth of the cross, these other things we seek become unimportant. What is critical is the Kingdom of God. It is the cross that is the instrument
of the power. As Stedman (1995) said: "Once you confront the cross and its meaning, you find yourself unable to escape that final, basic judgment of life as to whether
you are committed to error or committed to truth." And, that is the question every living person today must answer - are you foolish and reject the preaching of the
cross? Or, do you accept and live by Christs Gospel and gain eternal joy through Him. Paul continues: "For it is written: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate" (1 Corinthians 1:19). Paul is referring to Isaiah 29:14: "Therefore once more I will astound these people with wonder upon wonder; the
wisdom of the wise will perish, the intelligence of the intelligent will vanish." The wisdom of man cannot be very strong or powerful if God can simply make it vanish.
