It is noted that the inclusion of new forecasting methods, and the incorporation of computerization, rendered a more efficient system ("Always Enough, Never Too Much," 2006). It also appears
that forecasting by Kirin had been something quite advantageous and the company served as an example for the beverage industry. In general, computerization is an idea that makes sense. Also,
the same concepts can be applied to most any other industry and Kirwan may be used as a prototype. Still, one question does arise. Can companies in other industries really
benefit from an accurate forecasting system? There is of course the change that Kirwin was an aberration and that computerization does not make sense. However, upon close examination, it
seems that firms in other industries can take advantage of the same types of systems. In some situations computerization would not be practical, but when firms use inventory, it
is quite practical. The toy industry comes to mind because there is such a great deal of changes that come about. Sometimes there is a run on one product and
then, the product disappears in popularity. Sometimes, it is not the product but the season that is important. Many toy stores make their money during Christmas season and the rest
